Day 1 Jeep safari in Udawalawa National Park. One day trip

Departure from the hotel early in the morning before breakfast.

Currently, in an area of approx. 30 thousand There are over 800 Indian elephants living in ha. These are both wild animals and those that, despite being able to live in a natural environment, still need human care. Indian elephant herds consist of females and their offspring and can number up to 100 individuals, while males choose a solitary lifestyle, possibly wandering in pairs or several individuals. It should be assumed that one adult individual can eat about 200 kg of green matter a day, hence the migrations in search of food are continuous. Elephants born in the Pinnawale orphanage or those rescued by people in various circumstances are fed by the park staff. Demonstrations of feeding baby elephants with milk and palm leaves are also organized every day at the Elephant Transit Home at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. It should be mentioned that the efforts of people involved in restoring elephants to their natural habitat have resulted in approximately 100 happy elephants fed by human hands and now living wild and completely unrecognizable from others born in a natural environment. Way to go!

Elephants are the biggest attraction of Udawalawe Park, but you can also see other animals here, including leopards, rusty cats, tarajas, chital deer, Indian chevrotains, water buffalos, golden jackals, muntjacs, monkeys, including macaques and colobus monkeys. Ornithologists can observe cuckoos, woodpeckers, chevrotains, marabou storks, ibises, herons, pelicans, kingfishers, etc. in the park.
Drive to the hotel on the beach on the West Coast. End of the tour.
